TIMBER PROGRAM
Historically, Washington State has been dependent on the timber
industry as a major segment of the state’s economy. Although timber
harvest in Washington has been decreased in recent years, counties
continue to rely heavily on tax income derived from timber harvest, or
substitute sources for that historic revenue.
Washington State Association of Counties is pleased to be working in
cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to provide
Washington's timber counties:
- Assistance regarding natural resource issues;
- Support with regulatory responsibilities related to the
management of natural resources; and
- Technical expertise to the counties' representatives to the
Board of Natural Resources and the Forest Practices Board.
The WSAC Timber Program provides accurate information to county
decision makers, and serves a liaison between the counties, and the
US Forest Service and the Washington Department of Natural
Resources.
